-Source-247 Sports- This week the National Football League and President Donald J. Trump appeared ready to be odd bedfellows as the Super Bowl LII-champion Philadelphia Eagles were slated to visit the White House. Now such an event will not occur after all. In a statement released by the President on Monday evening shared by Mike Garafolo of NFL Network it was announced that the Eagles visit to the White House on Tuesday has been cancelled with the President citing the smaller contingent the Eagles would be sending instead of their full team and disagreements over conduct during the playing of the national anthem. The Philadelphia Eagles are unable to come to the White House with their full team to be celebrated tomorrow wrote President Trump. They disagree with their President because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem hand on heart in honor the great men and women of our military and the people of our country. The Eagles wanted to send a smaller delegation but the 1000 fans planning to attend the event deserve better. These fans are still invited to the White House to be part of a different type of ceremony - one that will honor our great country pay tribute to the heroes who fight to protect it and loudly and proudly play the National Anthem. I will be there at 3:00 p.m. with the United States Marine Band and the United States Army Chorus to celebrate America. In the leadup to the Eagles visit to the White House multiple players made it known that they would abstain from doing so for political reasons.
